Anti-tobacco Advocacy
Actively involved in advocacy for tobacco cessation program in state and raising the issues from from various platforms including print media and television. We have completed a study on practice of tobacco use in females and cessation strategies and in process of data analysis (sponsored by WHO India). Completed all the modules in the Global Tobacco Control training by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, an online course on August 29th 2008. Completed three days national level training on "Tobacco Control for Health Professionals" at NIMHANS, bangalore in from 11th to 13th December 2008. Also Participated in “National consultations to develop guidelines for tobacco cessation” by Ministry of Health and WHO India, at New Delhi (2009).

  Early-Onset Type 2 Diabetes, and Mood, Anxiety, and Stress-Related Disorders   Prevalence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) has been on rise for decades, and so is trend for patients getting it at younger age. The earlier onset of T2D is more challenging for patients as well as healthcare providers. The prevalence of psychiatric disorder  is known to be higher in T2D subjects however, its prevalence in early-onset T2D is not well studied. Also T2D and psychiatric illnesses are know to cluster in family and close relatives.   In an interesting population-based cohort study  done by Liu et al 1, that  included individuals born in Sweden during 1968–1998.
